  7.  WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I INSERT THE ABOVE BOARD 2 PLUS?

  9.      The computer will report a 164 or 165 error message.  You must install
  10.      the board and run the backup copy of the IBM Reference Diskette before
  11.      you can run SOFTSET (the specifics are covered in the Above Board 2
  12.      Plus manual).  SOFTSET can then finish the installation.

  14.  MUST I REMOVE THE ABOVE BOARD 2 PLUS TO RERUN SOFTSET?

  16.      No.  You can run SOFTSET as often as necessary without removing and
  17.      reinstalling the Above Board 2 Plus.

  19.  "AUTOMATICALLY CONFIGURE SYSTEM" OR RUN "AUTOMATIC CONFIGURATION"?

  21.      With the earlier versions of Above Board 2 and Above Board 2 Plus
  22.      installation software (diskette label dated 8-88 or older) it was very
  23.      important which configuration option was chosen.

  25.      When you run "Automatically configure system", the level of tests
  26.      performed (board types, ADF files, etc.) are less complete than when
  27.      you run "Run automatic configuration" under "Set configuration".  The
  28.      initializing ADF file is not found and installed.  This isn't a problem
  29.      for a DOS installation.  In a DOS environment, you could pick
  30.      "Automatically configure system" and use the board.

  32.      If you use OS/2, however, and you chose "Automatically configure
  33.      system", you won't completely install the board (the initializing ADF
  34.      file isn't installed) with the older Above Board Installation software.

  36.  CAN AN ABOVE BOARD 2 PLUS RUN AT 0 WAIT STATES IN A 50Z?

  38.      Yes, if the Above Board 2 Plus contains 100ns SIMMs or faster.  If you
  39.      have 120ns SIMMs on the Above Board 2 Plus, you cannot run the 50Z at 0
  40.      wait states.

  42.  WHAT HAPPENS WHEN EMM HAS NO "EXP=X" PARAMETER?

  44.      If you omit the EXP=x parameter, the default is 0 bytes of EXPANDED
  45.      memory.

  47.  CAN I SELECT RD THROUGH SOFTSET?

  49.      Yes.  The SOFTSET screen contains a Relocate Driver option.

  51.  WHAT DO HANDLES DO?
  52.  
  53.      You can liken the handles command to the DOS command "files= x".  The
  54.      number of handles determines how many programs can use expanded memory
  55.      at the same time (some applications require more than one handle).  RAM
  56.      disks and print buffers require one handle each.  Some programs (such
  57.      as Lotus 1-2-3) may require several handles.  If you specify fewer
  58.      handles than a program needs, you'll receive an expanded memory error.

  60.  DO THE MCF AND THE MCL PARAMETERS DISABLE ALL SYSTEM BOARD MEMORY?

  62.      In PS/2 computers, the MC parameter disables all system board memory
  63.      and remaps it.  The MCF and MCL parameters disable system board memory
  64.      while restricting it to the amount specified.

  66.  WHAT DOES THE RESERVED MEMORY ADDRESS DO?

  68.      The "reserved memory address" controls the memory location used only to
  69.      initialize and test the Above Board 2 Plus.  It is not directly related
  70.      to the EMM page frame which provides access to expanded memory.  It is
  71.      possible, and sometimes desirable, to set both Reserved Memory and the
  72.      Page Frame to the same address if other add-in boards occupy addresses
  73.      in the range of C000 to DFFF.
